BRITISH
INVASION/TEMPLE TRAINING
Fully Clothed
in the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic pump-up, Chiris Cormier admitted
it felt odd not flexing onstage this year, but after finishing second
in the previous six Anolds, it was time for someone else to be bridesmaid.
He plans to next enter the IFBB Atlantic City Pro on September 23, qualify
there and then enter the MrOlympia on September 30. With those two shows,
Cormier will equal Milos Sarcev's 72 IFBB pro contest appearances, but
this year, Cormier's adding a new twist to the old story.
Cormier plans
to spend from June to September in England (alternating between London
and Birmingham), training under the tutelage of six times Mr Olympia Dorian
Yates.
I'll do whatever he says I have to, Cormier states, "I'm just trying
to get out of my physique everything it has. If I'm at my best, I can beat
Ronnie Coleman.
We've seen other people at their best, and they can't beat him, but me and
Dorian think I'm the one guy who can. I want to be totally rested and excited
about training and preparing .I want to get that spark back like when I won
the 1993 USA and 1997 Night of the Champions. I was super excited about what
I was doing every day, and I want to get back to that." If he avoids
England's pubs and clubs, and he adopts the spartan Temple Gym ethos of the
Shadow in his prime, the Real Deal could deal out some real damage to the
hopes of any competitor who thinks Cormier's best days are behind him. |
